Position Description: Responsible for safely and efficiently carrying out daily in-process and finished product inspection and case packing on the production line according to food safety, HACCP, Preventative Controls and customer requirements.
Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily.
The competencies/skill requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Responsibilities: All employees holding the Production Level I position must have satisfactorily completed company training and demonstrated competency in the skills needed to effectively carry out all duties of the position.
The Production Supervisor (or designated alternate) is responsible for conducting the Production Level I training.
Competencies / Skill Requirements: Production Level I employee must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Production Level I employee must be neat in personal appearance and hygiene.
Production Level I employee must attend work per posted schedule and be willing to work before or after posted hours, as needed by management.
Production Level I employee must be able lift up to 20 lbs.

Production Level I employee must demonstrate ability to remove raw product from bags, as well as conduct an initial inspection and product separation.
Production Level I employee must be able to grade cheese for out of range piece size and general appearance, as well as remove non-conformities and complete piece weight charting.
Production Level I employee must be able to demonstrate the understanding of basic math skills and use of a calculator for computation.
Production Member must be able to inspect finished product bags for torn or open seals as well as quality requirements of the contents, remove non-conformities, and assure an accurate bag count per case.
Production Level I employee must demonstrate ability to properly use an automated tape machine.
Production Level I employee must demonstrate skill in the use of a scale to measure piece, bag and carton weight.
Production Level I employee must understand quality requirements related to the bag weight and packaged case weight of finished product.
Production Level I employee must demonstrate comprehension of GMP requirements related to food safety and product contamination prevention, and consistently follow those requirements.
Production Level I employee is responsible for any other duties as assigned.

While performing the functions of this job, the employee is constantly exposed to work near moving or mechanical parts, and occasionally exposed to refrigerated/freezer storage areas.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
LOTO Responsibilities: All employees are responsible for complying with SOP 99 – Lockout/Tag out Policy.
Following the lockout/tag out procedures described in this policy.
Understanding the purpose of the procedures, and are prohibited from attempting to restart machines or equipment that are locked and/or tagged out.
PPE Required: The following personal protective equipment is required to be worn by an employee performing essential functions of this job under the stated environmental conditions.
When entering the manufacturing, the employee is required to wear a hair net, beard net (if applicable) and closed in flat heeled shoes.
Hearing protection in the form of ear plugs or muffs is required in active manufacturing areas.
When entering an active manufacturing area, the employee is required to wear a lab coat.
When handling raw materials, work in progress, finished products or working with sanitary equipment, the employee is required to wear gloves.
A plastic apron and/or plastic sleeves may also be necessary depending upon conditions and task.
