Opportunity
This role is to ensure that our technical service information is accurate, well-organized, and up to date while contributing to the seamless operation and maintenance and repair of our product.
Specific Responsibilities Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, product management, service, and quality to gather technical details for various engine components and systems.
Write, edit, produce, and organize clear and concise technical service documents, including owner’s manuals, service manuals, installation instructions, service bulletins and other service-related documentation in compliance with legal obligations and internal or external requirements.
Create detailed illustrations, diagrams, and schematics to enhance the clarity of technical documentation.
Translate complex technical information into user-friendly content suitable for both technical experts, service technicians and end users.
Maintain and update existing technical documents to reflect product changes in engine designs, specifications, and product improvements.
Organize and categorize technical service information in a logical and easily searchable manner.
Collaborate with translators and external vendors to ensure accurate and effective translation of technical content for the global markets.
Conduct regular reviews of technical documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with industry standards.
Collaborate with global product and platform teams, staying abreast of NPD and product improvements that may impact service documentation.
Work within PLM system to monitor and track changes.
Keep up to date with industry trends, advancements, and best practices in technical writing and publication processes and systems.
Perform other assignments delegated by Manager – Technical Training & Publications.
Skills/Requirements Associate degree (in relevant field including Technical Communication, engineering or a related discipline) is required; bachelor’s degree in any of those fields listed above is preferred.
3- 5 years of experience in technical writing, preferably in the field of mechanical or engineering-related products.
Experience with internal combustion engines preferred.
3-5 years of illustration and diagram creation tools (e.
g.
, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, AutoCAD, Cre, PTC) to effectively visualize technical concepts and mastery in desktop publishing software.
1-2 years of Experience and Familiarity with DITA, XML and Component Content Management System 3-5 years of experience in Microsoft Office Suite and document management software.
1-2 years’ experience in translation processes and collaborating with translators to ensure accurate multilingual content.
Detailed orientation, excellent written and verbal communication, and a high sense of organization for technical documentation is strongly needed in this role.
Travel will be minimal and rare, between 0-10%.
Minimal International Travel for this role is required to global offices and OEM headquarters.
Applicants must be authorized to work in the US without requiring sponsorship now or in the future.
The salary range for this position is $64,600 - $81,350.
The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location.
