A Manufacturing Press Technician operates and provide limited minor preventative maintenance of presses and other machinery and monitors the quality of the product produced
Major Responsibilities:
Technician is required to check finished parts, empty parts buckets to hoppers, and shut-down operation whenever deficiencies in quality or press operation are noted.
Uses precision measuring instruments (caliper, micrometer, plug gauges, bore micrometer, dial indicator height gauge) to ensure that parts meet customer specifications.

, hole diameter, step, reverse draw, wall and material thickness to tolerances.
Maintain cleanliness in and around press and work area.
Involves cleaning scrap from inside and outside of press upon order completion.
In addition, whenever visible signs of debris, oil, coolant or any slippery conditions or substances are present, area must be mopped clean and an attempt made to discover and eliminate the source of any leaks.
Perform minor and limited preventive maintenance such as lubrication and auditing for loose parts and visible defects in equipment.
Load and unload raw material from stock reel or palletizer, following safety guidelines and using personal protection equipment such as gloves.
Includes the responsibility to verify that material tags match the specifications required.
Requires the safe & effective use of forklift, overhead hoist, coil hook, stock reel, coil straightener and banding apparatus.
Required to read and interpret part prints and understand the correlation between the print and critical dimensions upon which SPC charts are based.
Includes an understanding of the use of SPC computer system and the basic principles of our SPC customer requirements.
Records production, material, and quality information on designated JSC operating systems and in accordance with JSC operating procedures.
Involves an understanding of the purpose and necessity for accurate record keeping and JSC inspection plans and statistical process control (SPC) charts.
Through the safe operation of forklift equipment, transport material (raw stock, scrap, and finished parts) when necessary.
Frequently involves the safe operation of a forklift and may require maneuvering a loaded truck in confined and pedestrian traffic areas.
Other duties as assigned by supervisor for additional experience and/or training or refinement skills or in preparation for advancement.
Occupation includes a requirement to attend and participate in team meetings and training programs.
Participates in JSC's Continual Improvement Process.
Occupation includes a requirement to follow Environmental Health & Safety Procedures.
Required Qualifications:
EDUCATION: Math, problem solving, reading competency.
A high degree of mechanical aptitude.
EXPERIENCE: Previous work history in a manufacturing environment or experience demonstrating mechanical aptitude is required.
Prior experience operating a press is desired, but not required.
