Opportunity
The Irrigation Technician monitors and waters golf course(s) on a daily basis as well as repairs and maintains any and all pipes and sprinklers on the golf course(s).
Without supervision, the Irrigation Technician will work on diverse range of activities involved in irrigation maintenance and construction, does semi-skilled irrigation construction and maintenance work, and performs related tasks as required.
Specific Responsibilities
Waters greens, tees, fairways, rough, lawns and other areas as needed or scheduled.
Diagnoses and repairs equipment associated with irrigation (i.
e.
, sprinkler heads, quick coupler valves, underground wiring, irrigation pipes, field control satellites, central controller and wireless control system).
Operates irrigation heads in dry areas needing additional water.
Daily monitoring and evaluation of pump station operation.
Coordinate major repairs to pump station with contractors.
Maintain appropriate records relating to maintenance repairs.
Ensure all maintenance work is performed in a cost-efficient manner.
Order parts as needed and maintain appropriate inventory records.

exclusive contracts for pricing of replacement parts.
Maintain water use records monthly and annually for efficiency and reporting purposes.
Prepare and develop budget for irrigation maintenance.
Stay within annual budget.
Seek approval and document all unplanned necessary expenditures.
Seek opportunities to train, develop, and mentor staff to assist with irrigation tasks.
Develop and follow through with regularly scheduled preventive maintenance checks of irrigation heads and control systems.
Perform and assist in supervising related golf course maintenance tasks, as required.
Recommend capital equipment purchases through research, comparisons, and documentation of justification.
Coordinate and participate in purging system with air prior to freezing damage.
Assists in repairing greens with seeds or plugs of new grass, when needed
Snow removal as needed.
This is a Full-Time position working 5:00am-3:00pm weekdays and weekends.
Skills/Requirements
2+ years experience working on golf course maintenance team required.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred, but not required.
Working knowledge of basic electricity and hydraulics related to an irrigation system, including automatic valves and controllers and various types of pumps and pumping systems.
Knowledge of principles and practices of turf grass management.
Knowledge of pump station maintenance and repair.
Knowledge of tools, methods and materials used in grounds maintenance work.
Ability to operate all golf course equipment.
Possess strong interpersonal skills to be part of an engaged team.
Must be able to accurately give and follow instructions, both verbal and written.
Must have a valid driver’s license and meet company driving standards.
Must possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

The hourly range for this position is $16.
