Lakeshore Chorale, Inc.
is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that consists of one adult choir and three youth choirs that perform a wide variety of choral literature throughout each five-concert season that runs from September through May each year.

Position Overview
As the Lyric & Jubilate Conductor you will be directly responsible to the Lakeshore Chorale Board of Directors (BOD) and you will work with them towards supporting the chorale’s mission.
This position conducts the
Lakeshore Youth Chorale (LYC) Lyric & Jubilate Choirs made up of elementary and middle school students.
The Lyric & Jubilate Conductor is expected to be present at all rehearsals (typically Tuesday nights), dress rehearsals and concerts.
This position works closely with the Lakeshore Chorale Conductor, LYC Chamber Conductor (high school-aged choir) and the LYC Business Coordinator to plan and execute a successful season of concerts.
This position is part time.
Lakeshore Chorale’s season runs September to May.
The concerts involving LYC are in October, December and April.
Position Responsibilities
- Commitment to regular study to enhance skill set
- Conduct and direct all LYC Lyric & Jubilate rehearsals, both regular and special as scheduled
- Conduct and direct all LYC Lyric & Jubilate concerts, both regular and special as scheduled
- Coordinate and participate in auditions for new singers
- In cooperation with LYC Chamber Conductor and Lakeshore Chorale Conductor, create the theme, titles and descriptions for each new season
- Coordinate soloists and instrumentalists as needed and within the limitations of the LYC budget
- Participate in planning meetings as requested
- Participate in visioning for the future of LYC in partnership with others
- Prepare reports for and attend BOD meetings (every other month September-May)
- Attend an annual review meeting as scheduled by the BOD
Qualifications
Required: Relevant degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Preferred:
- Record of successful choral ensembles
- Ability to demonstrate and model mastery of vocal technique
- Proficiency in conducting, rehearsing and directing student singers
- Knowledge and understanding of appropriate repertoire and program direction.
- Ability to recruit and retain students
- Strong organizational and classroom management skills
- A solid understanding of learning challenges and accommodations to support varying needs of students
- Demonstrated evidence of scholarly activity and service within a department, university or community
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Commitment to and enthusiasm for quality teaching and knowledge of choral music
Compensation
The position of Lakeshore Youth Chorale Lyric & Jubilate Conductor is part-time, paid as an independent contractor.
The position is paid for the job, not by the hours worked.
Compensation is based on skills and qualifications for the positions, length of service, and salary range deemed appropriate for the position.
