The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for demonstrating a commitment to customer service and quality Human Resource (HR) practices with the ability to balance various demands and priorities.
This position will support all HR activities including, but not limited to recruiting and onboarding, reporting, compliance, and HR system management.
Responsibilities:
* Administer new employee onboarding and orientation.
* Maintain job postings and respond to applicant inquiries as necessary.
* Administer and ensure a smooth onboarding transition, staff transfers, and offboarding staff.
* Oversee the District’s criminal background check system and process.
* Maintain the District’s employee management system which includes positions, assignments, calendars, licenses, and other records.
* Oversee and track positions, FTE, and assignments for all staff levels.
* Maintain, record, and update all staff changes: transfers, salaries, positions, and resignations.
* Work with the District’s workers’ compensation insurance and process claims promptly.
* Administer leave for employees, including but not limited to FMLA and unpaid leave.
* Maintain and update the staff handbook.
* Maintain the HR Department budget.
* Collect and organize annual employee performance reviews.
* Research, compile, and complete necessary staffing reports.
* Provide clerical support, while maintaining strict confidentiality, in matters of staff evaluations, disciplinary action, or termination of staff.
* Respond to inquiries, verify employment and licensure, and complete necessary HR surveys as requested.
* Serve as the main point of contact for the HR department; provide information as requested or direct inquiries to the proper person.
* Serve as a technical point-of-contact for HR information systems.
Assist staff with system-related questions (ex: time off requests, etc.
).
* Analyze work process design and flow, improve processes, and leverage the return on technological capabilities.
* Maintain professional behavior, appearance, and work ethic to always represent the school district positively.
* Perform other duties as may be assigned.
Requirements and Qualifications:
* High school diploma.
* Two-year degree in clerical/administrative functions, human resources/accounting desired.
* At least five years of experience working in an office setting is preferred.
* Must have extensive knowledge of and be able to utilize computers.
Must have extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office, and Google programs, and able to learn new software.
Previous experience using Skyward school financial software is desired.
* Able to work in an environment with frequent interruptions and changing tasks and priorities.
* Cognitive effort is required to prioritize multiple competing tasks and interruptions.
* Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
* Ability to organize and prioritize tasks in a manner to ensure that deadlines are met.
* Possess excellent communication and customer service skills.
* Pleasant personality in dealing with staff and the public.
* Effective language and communication skills required.
* Demonstration of being reliable and dependable based on attendance.
* Self-motivated and willing to handle tasks as they present themselves.
* Ability to use tact and diplomacy in dealing with employment candidates, fellow employees, other governmental entities, and the general public.
* Ability to use discretion and integrity to process information and data confidentially and professionally.
