*Position Summary*
The Unit Coordinator will be responsible for assisting the Program Director in the development and delivery of programming*.
* Functions as a lead staff person for this priority program area at the and is responsible for supervising Youth Development Specialists (YDS) in this area.
Responsible for additional administrative duties including but not limited to maintaining the member database, creating schedules and developing lesson plans.
This role is to help maintain and regulate club member behaviors, facilitate family engagement, support the Boys & Girls Club staff and partner with administration.
This position will also develop and maintain respectful and collaborative relationships.
*Position Responsibilities*
* Monitors and evaluates situations quickly, using good judgment to make decisions and take appropriate action
* Convey caring and proper guidance in ongoing interactions with members, parents, and staff that demonstrates responsiveness and connectedness by creating a positive environment.
* Assists with discipline and guidance procedures to ensure consistency in the rules and expectations throughout the Club.
* Provides leadership to program staff and volunteers.
* Must be able to effectively evaluate programs and make program recommendations or changes based on the success of the programs.
* Continually evaluate programming needs of the club, ensuring that a creative, well-balanced and safe program is provided for all participants.
* Promote and develop leadership skills in members.
* Assist in special events, fundraisers or program events.
* Behavioral and parent meetings for members.
* Will assume leadership role of the location in the absence of the Program Director.
* Assist in leading Youth Development Specialists
* Work closely with Program Director relating to planning and implementation of program and site’s goals/vision.
* Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Program Director.
*Qualifications*
* Advanced knowledge of some or all of the following: child and adolescent development, behavior management techniques, principles of effective youth development programming
* Experience in facilitating, developing and implementing youth development programs
* Strong written and verbal communication
* Passion for youth development and mission of the organization
* Ability to communicate effectively with young people from diverse backgrounds, parents and other organizational personnel in a courteous and professional manner
* Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to motivate and inspire o Ability to work independently and efficiently
