*As the Human Resources Intern, you will play a key role in supporting the HR team across our various, growing functions.
*What to expect: *Assists in the department administration by organizing and managing the day to day operations, providing administrative support to the Human Resources Department.
*Essential Duties*
* Handles confidential documents and conversations with discretion.
Maintains the confidentiality of the departments.
Acts in furtherance of the County’s interests.
* Answers the main telephone and directs the calls as appropriate.
Greets members of the public and employees in a professional and courteous manner.
* Answers questions and distributes necessary information regarding insurance coverage, policy interpretation, and benefit provisions; works independently or seeks assistance from Human Resources Benefits Specialist, Human Resources Generalists, Human Resources Manager, or Human Resources Director.
* Provides backup and assistance to the Human Resources Generalist for orientation of new employees to policies and procedures and benefits provided by the County, along with assisting in the completion of original Human Resources documents, including benefits, retirement, W-4’s, I-9’s, parking passes, ID Badges, FOBs, letters, employee photo directory, applicant referral, etc.
* Prepares and organizes new employee files and enters new employee and benefit information in the payroll software system.
* Maintains employee personnel files, grievance, and discipline logs/files.
* Maintains job descriptions for all positions in Sheboygan County.
* Creates and updates reports and forms.
Automates forms for completion on shared directory when applicable.
* Completes verification of employment requests.
* Coordinates background checks and pre-employment post offer physicals/ substance testing.
* Reviews individual employee claims for unemployment insurance benefits, maintains records and provides information to the Wisconsin Unemployment Insurance Office for processing claims.
* Enters and maintains employee benefits in payroll system.
* Maintains department table of organizations.
* Sorts, opens, and distributes Human Resources Department mail.
* Develops and coordinates Employee Recognition Programs in conjunction with the Human Resources Director.
* Orders and maintains department supplies.
* Assists Human Resources Director, Human Resources Benefits Specialist, and Human Resources Generalist as necessary.
* Prepares PowerPoint and other materials for training presentations as requested.
* Organizes Human Resources training events and tracks attendance.
* Perform a wide variety of tasks and assume other regular responsibilities as assigned.
*Qualifications*
The successful candidates will meet the following requirements:
* Enrolled in a college program, preferred course of study to include Human Resources, Management, Communications, or related field.
* Ability to understand and effectively carryout oral and written instructions.
* Proficient in MS Office.
* Able to demonstrate professional work ethic and maintain confidentiality.
* Ability to work throughout the school year and summer.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.
00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
Schedule:
* 8 hour shift
* Monday to Friday
