HSSC is seeking a FT Veterinary Clinic Administrator to be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the administrative duties in our veterinary clinic, to maintain a commitment to the philosophies and policies of HSSC in the performance of his/her duties, respect the dignity and basic rights of each animal, and to ensure the comfort and safety of all animals in our care.
General Clinic Hours: M-F 8-4:30 (may occasionally vary)
Directly reports to the Director of Veterinary Medicine
This position is hourly.
After 90 days, a salary option may become available at the discretion of the Director of Veterinary Medicine.
The Humane Society of Sheboygan County is a non-profit 501(c) 3 no-kill animal shelter.
It has an intake of approximately 2,500 animals per year.
Its complement includes a veterinarian, operations manager, and marketing/fund development professional.
*ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES*
* Act as the primary point of contact for public service recipients, foster families regarding animal appointments, follow-ups, and communication with foster parents.
* Application processing and scheduling for public services: SNAP and TNR (weekly), Vaccine Clinic (monthly), euthanasia / cremation scheduling (as needed).
* Providing client education, which may include post-operative instructions, medication instruction, and compassionate communication with pet-owners experiencing the euthanasia process.
* Invoicing for clinic procedures and services
* Responsibility for the cremation process from admission to cremation.
* Ordering clinic inventory.
* Facilitating communication between veterinary staff and the public.
* Working with the Director of Veterinary Medicine to manage the clinic budget, provide monthly expense reports, and remain within budget constraints.
* Updating client and patient records, as needed to keep them current.
*ABILITIES, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and TRAINING*
* Strong understanding or willingness to learn about animal health, behavior, and safety.
Previous experience in a shelter or veterinary environment is preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate.
* Exceptional and compassionate customer service skills are essential
* Strong organizational skills
* Good communication and interpersonal skills
* Comprehension of or willingness to learn veterinary terminology
* Ability to have close contact with animals.
* Ability to work under stress during crisis or disaster situations.
* Ability to plan, coordinate and implement administrative efforts.
* Aware of OSHA regulations and capable of implementing standards
*OTHER CONSIDERATIONS:*
Radiation equipment is in use on-site.
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee may potentially be exposed to zoonotic disease, encounter scenarios of animal suffering or abuse, and be witness to humane euthanasia and cremation process or animal death.
